Memory Booth
This project delves into the intriguing concept of memory preservation through the lens of my grandmother's unique approach. The inspiration stemmed from her meticulously curated collection of old photo albums, which she cherished amidst a disposition for discarding old belongings. This installation seeks to illuminate Grandma's philosophy on memory storage.
Set against the backdrop of Grandma's abode, specifically the second-floor balcony where she spent much of her life, the installation serves as a poignant tribute to her legacy. Here, viewers are invited to immerse themselves in a multimedia experience that intertwines past and present.
As dusk settles, a video unfolds within the installation, showcasing archival footage from bygone eras. What sets this presentation apart is Grandma's voiceover, providing poignant commentary as she reminisces upon these memories from her present perspective.
Through this juxtaposition of past and present, viewers are granted a window into Grandma's world, witnessing firsthand her reverence for the past and her contemplation of time's passage. The second-floor balcony, imbued with decades of memories, becomes a sacred space for reflection and introspection.
